[00:00.00] SIREN SONG by Eric Wise
[00:09.75] Confined to a wretched rock
[00:14.00] By an ancient curse
[00:17.75] Singing your seductive song
[00:21.50] Wrecking all who’ve heard
[00:25.75] You know no touch or kiss
[00:29.75] No honest man’s true faith
[00:33.75] To free you from the curse
[00:37.75] You need a mortal’s embrace
[00:45.00] Sing your Siren Song
[00:49.50] Sing it loud and strong
[00:53.75] Once I reach your side
[00:58.00] There’s only you and me
[01:01.50] My love
[01:03.75] My love will set you free
[01:10.00] Every man who hears you
[01:13.00] Is seduced by your charms
[01:18.00] But a strong an’ honest man
[01:21.50] Can get to you unharmed
[01:26.00] A man who’s pure of heart
[01:29.50] Someone you can believe
[01:33.75] I’ll never give you up
[01:37.50] Just put your faith in me
[01:45.50] Sing your Siren Song
[01:50.00] Sing it loud and strong
[01:54.00] Once I reach your side
[01:58.00] There’s only you and me
[02:01.55] My love
[02:03.00] My love will set you free
[02:09.00] Soon I will be with you
[02:13.50] Our future within reach
[02:18.00] Your curse is powerless
[02:21.20] ‘Cause you and I are meant to be
[02:30.00] Sing your Siren Song
[02:34.00] Sing it loud and strong
[02:38.00] Once I reach your side
[02:41.50] There’s only you and me
[02:45.70] My love
[02:47.80] My love will set you free
[02:54.00] You’ve waited forever
[02:57.80] Longing for the one
[03:01.50] Singing your siren song
[03:5.50] Yearning for my love
[03:14.00] Our journey has just begun

While Siren Song is not true to the myths of a siren or a mermaid, this song attempts to describe a situation with the beauty of a mermaid and the danger of a siren.
The song references a curse. The curse of loneliness till we find someone to love! Throughout the song the woman defends herself from those not worthy while waiting for someone with a kind and pure heart to finally love. The hero does not give up and eventually wins her heart. The song ends as their journey together begins!
“Confined to a wretched rock”.
I started off with "Sitting on a lonely rock" and quickly realized I could do better. I kept coming back to that line over and over again for more than a week before I finally wrote the words that felt right to me. I tried "lounging", "waiting", "laying", etc. "Jagged", "desolate", "windswept", and others. I really wanted to find the right words for this opening line of the song. I chose "Confined" to convey that she is not there willingly and she cannot simply leave. Like being in a prison or being cursed. Much better than sitting. "Wretched". What a word! People often ask me why I used that horrible word. It disturbs them! I used that word because it is horrible, and disturbing, and might make a listener feel that something really needs to change! "Wretched" conveys dread and reminds us of retching. Nothing I could think of conveyed the horribleness and sadness of her plight better. So it became "Confined to a wretched rock".
“My love will set you free”
For me that line just "makes" the chorus. I was inspired by that line so much that I am currently writing a song with that name and using that same melody. Not done yet but on it's way!
