LYRICS

 VERSE 1
Confined to a wretched rock
By an ancient curse
Singing your seductive song
Wrecking all who've heard

You know no touch or kiss
No honest man's true faith
To free you from the curse
You need a mortal's embrace

VERSE 2
Every man who hears you
Is seduced by your charms
But a strong an' honest man
Can get to you unharmed

A man who's pure of heart
Someone you can believe
I'll never give you up
Just put your faith in me

CHORUS
Sing your Siren Song
Sing it loud and strong
Once I reach your side
There's only you and me
My love
My love will set you free

BRIDGE
Soon I will be with you
Our future within reach
Your curse is powerless
'Cause you and I are meant to be

CHORUS
Sing your Siren Song
Sing it loud and strong
Once I reach your side
There's only you and me
My love
My love will set you free

OUTRO
You've waited forever
Longing for the one
Singing your siren song
Yearning for my love
...
...
Our journey has just begun

While Siren Song is not true to the myths of a siren or a mermaid, this song attempts to describe a situation with the beauty of a mermaid and the danger of a siren.
The song references a curse. The curse of loneliness till we find someone to love! Throughout the song the woman defends herself from those not worthy while waiting for someone with a kind and pure heart to finally love. The hero does not give up and eventually wins her heart. The song ends as their journey together begins!

“Confined to a wretched rock”.

I started off with "Sitting on a lonely rock" and quickly realized I could do better. I kept coming back to that line over and over again for more than a week before I finally wrote the words that felt right to me. I tried "lounging", "waiting", "laying", etc. "Jagged", "desolate", "windswept", and others. I really wanted to find the right words for this opening line of the song.

I chose "Confined" to convey that she is not there willingly and she cannot simply leave. Like being in a prison or being cursed. Much better than sitting.

"Wretched". What a word! People often ask me why I used that horrible word. It disturbs them! I used that word because it is horrible, and disturbing, and might make a listener feel that something really needs to change! "Wretched" conveys dread and reminds us of retching. Nothing I could think of conveyed the horribleness and sadness of her plight better.

So it became "Confined to a wretched rock".

“My love will set you free”

For me that line just "makes" the chorus. I was inspired by that line so much that I am currently writing a song with that name and using that same melody. Not done yet but on it's way!
