[00:00.00] RUBY RED       by Eric Wise [00:04.00] There’s a lady who lives on my street [00:08.00] The kinda’ lady you’d like to meet [00:13.00] Crimson nails, auburn hair [00:17.00] She is homeless but she doesn’t care [00:22.00] Ruby Red [00:24.00] Ruby Red [00:27.00] They call her Ruby Red [00:31.00] Ruby loves Philosophy [00:36.00] Living her own Nietzsche’s dream [00:40.00] What doesn’t kill us makes us scream [00:45.00] I think she has an advanced degree [00:50.00] Ruby Red [00:52.00] Ruby Red [00:54.00] They call her Ruby Red [00:59.00] I ask her if I can help [01:04.00] But she says just think of yourself [01:08.00] Ruby really needs to be free [01:13.00] She goes where she wants to be [01:17.00] Ruby Red [01:19.00] Ruby Red [01:22.00] They call her Ruby Red [01:26.00] Don’t know what [01:29.00] But something went wrong [01:31.00] Suddenly [01:33.00] Ruby is gone [01:35.00] Where did she go [01:38.00] It got so cold [01:40.00] Is she safe [01:42.00] I just don’t know [01:45.00] I think back [01:47.00] As time goes by [01:49.00] I miss Ruby [01:51.00] And her beautiful mind [01:54.00] (Instrumental) [02:12.00] Ruby Red [02:15.00] Ruby Red [02:17.00] They called her Ruby Red [02:22.00] They called her Ruby Red [02:26.00] What became of Ruby Red

LYRICS

VERSE 1
There's a lady who lives on my street
The kinda’ lady you'd like to meet
Crimson nails, auburn hair
She is homeless but she doesn't care

CHORUS
Ruby Red
Ruby Red
They call her Ruby Red

VERSE 2
Ruby loves Philosophy
Living her own Nietzsche's dream
What doesn't kill us
Makes us scream
I think she has
An advanced degree

VERSE 3
I ask her if I can help
But she says just think of yourself
Ruby really needs to be free
She goes where she wants to be

BRIDGE
Don't know what
But something went wrong
Suddenly, Ruby is gone
Where did she go it got so cold
Is she safe I just don't know
I think back as time goes by
I miss Ruby and her beautiful mind

CHORUS
Ruby Red
Ruby Red
They call her Ruby Red

They called her Ruby Red
What became of Ruby Red

Ruby Red Song Diary

The words “Ruby Red” came to me suddenly one night as I was eating dinner with my wife and sister-in-law. I then said “I think she is homeless”.
I do believe that many of our songs are already in our subconscious. We just need to “find” them. It is like there is fog obscuring the songs but as we get closer the songs become clear.

“a melodic expression of humanity at its most vulnerable”

The Other Side Reviews Sept 11th, 2023

I scribbled down some lyrics and then went to my guitar and the first thing I played was the exact music the song was released with. And the first recording with vocals and everything was completed within that hour.

Musically similar to the song "Coconut" by Harry Nilsson, ("put the lime in the coconut") the song stands out as being quite different from other songs being released these days. With just 3 chords, B7, E7 and F7, it is a bluesy and cool sounding.

Wise Inspirations has bestowed upon us a work of art that transcends the boundaries of music, leaving an indelible imprint on our hearts and thoughts. This is absent in today’s music, thus I feel it is appropriate to refer to Eric Wise as the ‘Messiah of Modern Day Music.’

I sent the song off for vocals not having any idea of how beautifully John Long would craft the harmonies and background vocals on top of the melody. When the vocals came back, I was blown away. I had thought the song had potential but I had no idea it could sound so rich and full. There are nine seperate vocal tracks making up the sound that you hear on this song!

I am personally very proud of the music in the bridge. It came together and added a lot to the song. Lyrically, I love verse 2.
